Im a senior in highschool and just a little behind on the whole app process. I’ve been looking at my list and slowly realizing i dont actually want to go to half the schools I am applying to, in fact i have no idea what i want. I have a 3.85 uw gpa and a 4.5w. i have a 1940 on the sat, 690-cr, 660-math, 590-writing, retaking this week. I dont know what i want to study, (anything from business to social science to film to marketing), i am hoping for a bigger (brand name) school, one with a decent jewish population, and warm weather would be the best, but not necessary. Please pitch ideas of schools i should consider! would be so helpful! thank you!!!
What’s your budget? Can your parents pay $60,000+ per year? One thought would be Chapman University in Southern California. Good business and film/TV programs.

What are your parents saying about PAYING for the OOS publics on your list? Will they happily pay $50k per year for those schools? If not, you need to replace those with affordable schools.
If you don’t know how much your parents will pay, ask them. You need to know that.
You have a 1330 M+CR…which might get you some merit at some OTHER schools…not the ones on your list.
***money is not a concern, parents would ultimately pay for any school
What state do you live in?
bigger, brand name, warm- University of Texas at Austin. your stats are compatible and for what you may want to study, it’s an excellent school. I’d argue their PR, marketing, management is one of the best in the nation. I believe its in the top 10. in terms of jewish population, it repeatedly makes hillels top jewish schools every year. overall, the schools outstanding and judging by your other threads and interests, i think you would find endless possibilities here. I would call it the Michigan of the south. Hook 'em!
my dream school! but i thought it was impossible oos? wasnt even going to bother applying
NJ
Good… parents will pay.
Which are the schools on your list that no longer interest you?

UTexas won’t likely admit you…your rank is too low. They want top 8%
SUNY Stonybrook, Hofstra and Brandeis might be good choices for you. I attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Hillel was always very active on campus there.
I would suggest you check out Elon. They have two TV studios on campus, and very nice facilities for communications and business majors. Your stats are a fit.
Good luck!
University of Miami? I’ve heard that FSU has a very strong film program. You’re probably competitive for UC Santa Barbara, especially if you bring the Writing score up a bit. Your scores are a little low for Tulane, but your grades are definitely competitive and a modest boost could bring you within range there. Temple is a good safety for you, if Philly isn’t too chilly; they have excellent departments: either the School of Film & Media Arts or the School of Media & Communications. They have lots of internship opportunities.
Atlanta has an increasing importance in the entertainment industry, and so Emory is also worth a shot.
Whichever schools you look at, be sure they have a wide breadth of majors so you have lots of options to choose from since you’re undecided.
I second Elon. They have a lot of the programs you seem to be interested in and you would have a decent chance of getting in.
