This is probably the most important part of social interaction.

You're standing. Maybe your listening to someone. Are your hands crossed? Wait, no, no, no, that would make you appear aggressive. Oh! Your hands should be in your pockets! Oh, that makes you look like trying too hard. Maybe behind you with one of your hands on the wrist? Nah, too awkward. hands on your side? Meh...

with a backpack, I hang onto the straps, OK, but what about in a neutral posture?

Someone enlighten me with this dilemma. Please. Thanks.

Umm…I just put then where they feel like going naturally. Usually that’s on my hips or behind my back. I think you’re thinking about it too much. Lol.

@ Bry: Dude, this is serious matter and requires deep thinking . People will label someone a loser if they show any signs of awkwardness

@MattNC: nice! I think I will carry a water bottle everyday at school so people think I’m healthy but one of those guys who believes bottled water>tap water. heck, maybe I’ll even get laid with this method.

Btw I forgot, how do you quote? The @ takes forever to find…

One hand is always in my pocket the other is either: giving a high five, flicking a cigarette, giving the peace sign, playing a piano, or hailing a taxi cab.

OMG Thank you so much!!! I literally never know what to do with my hands: is akimbo too weird for a male to do? Is crossed too mean looking? If they hang at my sides are they too limp? Is clasping them impolite?? Who knows???

I keep one hand in my mouth usually, though it can get a little hard to talk. My other hand is always trying to get something out of my eye or at least pretending to.
