nomad to the rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Washington is my safety school .I have a 1370 and 4.5 GPA class rank only in th etop 5 %. I am not exceptional, so there, bring it on!!!

wow guys, how the hell do you know 1440 is not a good enough score to brag about? ( just because there are some people here getting more?) What if a person is confident or even overconfident about his chances ? You people dont know anything abt the admission process ( and neither do i ) so how do you know if those scores are good enough or not? so stop flaming the poor fella !

nomad....i had the exact same stats you did this time last year, and i was number one in my class. however, i got waitlisted and then denied by wash u. A piece of advice: Definitely dont count it as a safety---I wish you the best of luck, and hopefully you'll be admitted. Just dont want you to be overconfident!

Well by safety i meant i have the best chances at that school ( figured engineering will help too). ( i have applied to Cornell, JHU and Northwestern among others where engineering is more competitive )

See i like your response, instead of going after me, you are giving friendly advice. I actually think i have a 10 % chance of getting admitted( being an international and all) but i just thought i had to make a point there.

I understand people getting angry at the prospect of that they not getting accepted and someone whos safety school is washu getting in and then maybe not going. But seriously think this way, if you are not accepted with your stats and ecs that means you dont belong there in the first place.

All the best Everyone and lets not get judgemental of people here. :)

of course! I seriously hope that everyone gets the school they truly desire. I had some friends who also were too confident and like me, they were crushed when things didnt come out as they planned. But I agree that you dont "belong there in the first place," but when it's you, it's hard to accept that. Have any of you had that feeling? maybe its just me......

this is a horrible thought, but i know a kid who got deffered last year who had 1500 SAT and double legacy. that scares the crap out of me considering, i've got double legacy and lower SAT scores - this school is just getting more and more competitive

dont worry. i think it depends more on how much extracurricular stuff you have done, essays, other scores and ur interview... sats arent everything. that person may have had a crappy gpa and essay? i got like less than a 1400 and had single legacy and i got in. good luck!

wash u is making a big push to the east. if you live on the east coast, you have a greater chance of being accepted (or so claims my guidance counselor). My brother is a freshman there; I have much higher SATs but he had a higher GPA, and i am counting on getting in there if i don't get in anywhere else.

tomswift, don't be too concerned. I got in and I thought I was well below what they would accept. I had a 1400 SAT (luckily, I got an 1190 my first time and a 1350 my second). My SAT IIs were 610, 650, and 660. My GPA wasn't spectacular - a little bit over a 4.0 weighted. My extracurriculars were alright (no leadership in anything) and my essays were probably average. They just might see something in your application that gets you in. Now I'm just worried I'm going to be coming in at the bottom of the class, but at least I'm in.

Hey guys! I got in with a 31 ACT, a 5.3 (out of 5) GPA and 3.95 unweighted GPA. I am also in a total of 4 AP classes. I can't wait for next year! I'm Jewish and from highland park, illinois, a very jewish area and definitely wanted to go to a school with lots of Jews but not too many (like at brandeis, I can't imagine being surrounded by that many Jews lol)

yay jewish people , lol, i applied to Wash U too! there seemsto be quite a few jewish applicants, there arent that many jewish peopleat my shcool maybe like 7 total, lol
