Hi,
I am a rising high school junior who is diligent and interested in biological engineering with a potential minor in business and would like to eventually go to medical school. I live in Maryland and attend a rigorous, affluent public high school in the suburbs of Washington D.C. I have taken AP Macro, APUSH and AP GOV(all 5s) in my first two years of high school. I will take AP LANG, honors Spanish, AP CHEM, AP CALC BC, AP CP and Computer programming this year. The next year, I will take AP BIO, AP Spanish, AP Lit, MV Calc, AP World and AP Physics C. I participate in debate and have held summer internships in bioengineering. Additionally, I have started a nonprofit which builds websites for immigrant businesses in the area. I am intent on studying bioengineering and am considering Princeton, Penn, Yale, Cornell and JHU for ED. Which of these schools should I apply to based on my interests in medicine, engineering and business and what other schools should I look at.
Actually look at Rice and Duke. Great for pre med and bio engineering. Definitely better combo than the ones on your list. However, I wouldnt go with Bioengineering for pre med. Med schools only care about gpa and engineering will give you a lower gpa.
Imo if you have to ask which school to apply ed to, you shouldn’t be applying ed. Obviously, no college stood out enough above the rest to become a clear #1. Don’t lock yourself in to a school if you aren’t certain you want to go there; apply rd and see where you get in/compare fin. aid offers, and visit campuses again.
Also, Princeton and Yale do not have ed, but rather scea. These are non-binding, so can apply scea to one of those without having to commit to going there if you got in. This might be a better option if you aren’t sold on any particular school.
