Where to apply? (need more schools)

I have already applied to 9 schools, but I feel like I still need some suggestions for schools that will be a good match for my interests and qualifications. I will not tell you the schools to which I already have applied (except that I was rejected from Stanford EA) because I hope to see some overlap for reassurance.

I am interested in pursuing electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.

I do not care about geography very much. I live in New York if that affects anything.

It would be great if you'd also tell me whether schools you suggest would be safeties, matches, or reaches for me.

I attended a private school for the gifted that had an IQ requirement for grades 5 through 8, at which I took high school classes beginning in 6th grade. My grades in high-school level classes (on a separate transcript sent to colleges) were all 4.0.

I skipped my sophomore year of high school.

My situation concerning my GPA is a little bit weird. After 8th grade, I switched into public school and got terrible grades, a 3.2. After that year, I was skipped ahead to 11th grade. In eleventh grade, I got better grades. My public school will not integrate my 4.0 GPA from 8th grade (which was all high school classes) and earlier into my cumulative GPA.

The principal of my school has included a personal recommendation for me that explains my situation and how to view the other school's grades.

Thank you very much for all your help!

Cornell, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins might be good target schools.

MIT and Princeton are unlikely.

RPI and UMaryland for quality safeties.

How’d I do? (and sorry about Stanford)

You might consider UC Berkeley. GREAT CE and EE program (niece is pursuing both at Cal right now-REALLY challenging–she also was rejected EA at Stanford. Now—she is glad she got into CAL) I hope this helps-APOL-a mom

Hasn’t the deadline for UC Berkeley passed?

The Jew from New York bit definitely doesn’t help your chances.

I’d throw in UChicago, Rice, VT?

Yea, if only I were Native American or Martian or something.

Yup the deadline for the UC’s is long gone.

Penn has a really strong Jewish community if you’re looking for that.

Chicago does not have engineering.

I guess I should post where I have applied and the rest of my list since I’ve already seen what I expected.

Should I apply anywhere else in addition to the following?:

Applied:
Columbia
UPenn
Cornell
Dartmouth
Carnegie Mellon
Brandeis (bad idea, won’t send in $)
WashU
Caltech

Will apply to:
GeorgiaTech
Rice
U Michigan
Northwestern

It looks like you’re looking for universities that have a range of departments and schools, and not just a tech school. That’s very similar to what my son was looking for last year for EE, ECE and CS. He applied to Stanford SCEA (also rejected), Cornell, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Vanderbilt, Rice, Univ of TX, Wash U, USC and MIT. (He got accepted at all except for Stanford, Princeton, and MIT, and received merit aid at 5 of the schools.) He ended up matriculating at Rice.

Good luck!

Oh goodness…with your stats? You will have many choices come April…relax…are you trying to collect acceptance letters? I think your choices are fine. If you want to add one more MATCH school…that you would SEE yourself attending and being happy…go ahead..but its overkill.
