Also, does the low Critical Reading matter that much if I want to be STEM and I have a 770 Math?

yes it does, even if it matters less to some technical colleges. Still, ABET accredited means you will have to take a freshman composition class as well as a professional writing class, so it’s not possible to disregard English.

I wouldn’t spread yourself too thin by applying to a ton of reaches. Apply to a couple that you like. Also only apply early (as in EA) if your app is ready. And I would recommend EA to Notre Dame. I got in their EA and it was a huge relief for later. Also your ND legacy will help you some, but not a ton. they reject plenty of legacies each year.

If I were you I wouldn’t apply to more than 10 schools (no more than 5 reaches) and really focus on the ND EA app if that is where you want to go.

Thanks for advice. I guess what I meant with the CR not matter as much is for like getting into schools rather than once I am in. But that’s useful information. As far as ND goes. A girl in my class is a shoe in for ND as a junior. Will her getting in affect my chances?

@NotreDame75 How is she a shoe in? And no if you are qualified you will still get in. Another guy at my school also applied EA and got accepted. We both got in this year despite the fact that in my counselor’s 30ish year career she had only gotten 2 kids in prior. So if you are qualified you will be accepted. Feel free to PM me with your ND questions.

UNC’s only engineering program is biomedical engineering. While Duke has a very strong engineering school, NC State attracts most of NC’s top high school students who want to major in engineering. It has a more extensive engineering program than Duke’s, with many more possible majors.

Thanks guys! NC STATE sounds like a place to apply. She’s a shoe in because of some summer program with a 98% matriculation rate. But it’s refreshing to hear two kids from 1 school getting in. Let’s hope that happens! Is Villanova a pretty safe bet?
