Hello, im an African American with a 3.5 average gpa, voted president of the enviormental club at my school, got an 1800 on my SAT, with a 600 on my us history and 580 on my liturature SAT 2s, and i don't have the results for my ACT test quite yet. Finacialy im set im just not sure what schools i should apply to without being too much of a reach, since i want to major in political science.

What are you looking for in a school? Large/Small? Urban/Rural? Rah-rah/geeky?

a large school is fine i just dont want 200 in most of my classes, im more of an urban type, and definitely Rah-rah. Basicly it doesn’t have to be the very best school, just one where staying all 4 years is a strong possibility.

BU Pitt NYU Temple

penn state? rutgers?

Thank you for the input i was also looking at like ohio state university, michigan state university, and washington university but i think it sort of a reach

SAT matches Pitt’s middle SAT range (1770-2090), Pitt is definitively urban, is mid-sized (15:1 ratio, <6% of courses over 100 students), and it has a major [football and basketball programs](http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/13660952/top-footballbasketball-schools-resurgent-pitt-football-doing-its-part?tag=coverlist_active;coverlist_photo) for that rah-rah feeling. Seems like a good match.

All three PA state schools sound like good choices (PSU, Pitt, Temple)

Thank you, everyone this is a great help in forming my list

what is your SAT breakdown?

Writing-630
Reading-610
Math-560
im going to retake in november

Are you going to take the ACT?

You should. Many find the ACT math easier and less “tricky”. :)

Yes, i have already scheduled it in octber. Alot ofmy friends told me that the ACT is just a better test in general

Are there any other suggestions. i just want to make sure i have a well rounded list
