So I really would like to study film and have actually already taken summer courses on it at UCLA School of Theater Film and Television. Worked with Duane Del'Amico. Nice guy. What I am understanding though is that you cannot be admitted into the Film program until Junior year. I am okay with this, but am wondering where do I go before that. From what I have read it would be the College of Letters and Science however when applying there do you need to choose another major? If so what do I choose if I can't choose film for two more years. This process is just a little confusing. Could someone here enlighten me possibly?

Thanks in advance!

I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong. But my daughter (a freshman this year) wants to apply for the communication studies major. You have to wait until at least sophomore year and some people wait until junior year to apply. So she applied to and entered the college of letters and science “undeclared”. She didn’t want to go in with another major and then have to change. The advisor for comm. studies has advised her to have a back up major in case she is not admitted to the major so she has been taking classes for both comm. studies, her back up major and also GE’s. Comm. studies is very competitive, as is Film & TV so perhaps you situation would be similar.
