Does anyone know???

Virginia Bakery, Virginia x Shattuck (a couple blocks north of Hearst, west campus), probably has cakes.

What do you need it for and what time frame?

Thanks! My daughter's looking for a birthday cake. I'll pass on the info.

Ah. Yeah. They'll be the best bet unless she's looking to take a trip to Oakland. There aren't a whole lot of bakeries around here, and none of the grocery stores have their own.

If she doesn't fancy them (they might be expensive), she could try the Andronico's down Telegraph, as they often have a few kinds of cakes. They tend to be smaller and less birthday-y, though, running along the decadent scale.

The Lucky's (used to be Albertson's) right next to El Cerrito BART actually makes pretty good birthday cakes.

The Bread Garden (?) next to Peet's coffee near the Claremont Hotel makes cakes I think. Andronico's Grocery store probably makes cakes- they have two locations in Berkeley, one on Telegraph. If they do not, they will be able to tell you who does. Ask for the bakery when you call.

im surprised no one mentioned Carvel's off bancroft. Its next to Jamba juice. My friends go there often for birthday cake (tastes pretty good too, ice cream yum)
