I know Weinstein sucks, but that's all I know so far. Right now I get a feeling the best to stay at are Hayden or Third North. I also heard Founder's is nice. How is Lafayette (I only ask because it is in Chinatown, which I assume is cheap. idk)? So far I'm between Hayden, Third North, and Founder's, but this selection was based on superficial research. Any input? Thanks

Also, can someone give me their experience living in apartment-style? How social is it? Should I do it?

Lafayette is not cheaper because it has a kitchen (and common area?). Also, it is not for freshmen but upperclassmen. All (or most) dorms for upperclassmen will be more expensive by around $2000 due to the apartment style living.

There was a previous (maybe more than one) thread about the various Freshmen Housing choices earlier this year. Have you seen it (not too long ago)?

Third North is apartment style living (the only one for freshmen) and it now apparently competes with Hayden as the 'social" dorm.

Ok, so I guess now its between Hayden, Founder’s and 3N. What can you tell me about Founder’s?

Actually, what I want are apartment-style filled with introverted/philosophical people. Which would suite me?

The only choice is Third North, state your preferences for “introverted/ philosophical” roommate and suitemates (not sure if they pay attention to the latter preferences), then pray (especially if you want to find yourself in a relatively quiet floor in a dorm well known for being “social”/ noisy, though that depends on the floor and suite). :)

If it is really bad, you can ask for room re-assignment after the first three weeks of school.

is reassignment easy?

Since you seem to know exactly what you want in a roommate, it might be worth a try to find one on facebook. Post what kind of roommate you’re looking for on the NYU Class of 2015 facebook group and see if anyone responds. You’ve got nothing to lose!

Yes. It is better to get in with the right roommate/ suitemates (hopefully) in the first go around, say, by going through the NYU Class of 2015 facebook group.

You can not be sure of what is in the housing inventory at the end of the first three weeks of school. NYU Res Life and Housing Service would not even know what is available until they take inventory during the 3 week process.

The re-assignment is a last resort if you really, really hate your living situation. Remember even if NYU OKs the re-assignment, you have to start over again 3 weeks into classes. It would be a hassle but, of course, still an option for those who are really dissatisfied with their original housing assignment.

Anyone have their freshmen dorm assignment for fall 2011 yet?
