I am looking to get merit aid to schools where the total fees can be cut down under 30k. I want to go to a big school with school spirit and exciting athletics. I would prefer a college town over a big city as well. So far I know I can get assured full tuition at Alabama, 9k a year at Indiana, and I am applying for 9k per year at Colorado State and 15k a year at Colorado-Boulder. Are there any other schools in the similar academic range that offer comparable scholarships? Thanks for everyones help.

Have your parents committed to paying $30K a year for all 4-5 years and do you have an estimated EFC for FAFSA and Profile? Do you have a particular major in mind? There are several ways to go - if your folks can afford their estimated Profile EFC then a school that guarantees to meet need might be good, even if they don’t offer much in the way of merit aid. UNC Chapel Hill and UVA are two such schools. If they can’t afford their EFC, please choose one of the SUNYs as a back up plan - in addition to the $5270 tuition rate, you’d likely garner some merit aid as well. Binghamton and UB have plenty of great programs and school spirit, though obviously not big-name athletics and even Albany definitely has the college town element.
