i use BRITA~~!

You can buy water pretty cheap at the little-known cafe in Boelter.

Trust me, sooo much cheaper than vending machine water.

Shhh!

Haha I've heard about the secret engineering cafe/store place.

I just don't dare go into Boelter.

Why don't most students just get gallon jugs like orangepie said for their rooms then...it seems easier than lugging cases of water up to your room and the water would probably taste better than filtered tap water...

shinseki...does boelter sell bottles or what?

In Ackerman, but I don't suggest buying it there. It will be more $$.

oh thanks allie...i should have figured everything is more expensive on campus

They sell bottles of I think Crystal Geyser-normal sized and large sizes( I can't remember exactly what volume though). But it's cheap.

But their microwaveable burritos suck.

Go to the 99c store.
You can buy a gallon for essentially $1!

thanks shinseki

online sites like office depot, office max sell cases of bottled water for reasonable cheap. And if u spend more than $50 or $75 , like 5-10 cases they'll ship it to you for free. (no lugging/driving up westwood/gayley) The only problem is i don't know how happy ucla mail room will be to receive 10 cases of water lol.

that seems like a good way too..thanks kingroger317

yeah ty.
I'll probably end up doing something along those lines.

Few notes:

Drinking water in LA IS safe. There's no arguing that. It just doesn't taste the same as bottled water. But to argue that they put chemicals to "mask" contaminants is just silly. Many many studies have shown that tap water is oftentimes as clean as bottled water, if not cleaner.

Bottled water is just not economical. If you absolutely MUST buy into the thinking that tap water is unsafe, get a Brita filter or something that uses carbon filtration. It'll give you that commercial peace of mind and is much cheaper in the long run than bottles. Oh, and you use far less plastic.

Think before you type. Research before you make claims.

I think most people were arguing that it tastes terrible.

devr,

Yeah, some weren't though, and I figured I might as well weigh in on that silliness.

But yeah, it isn't the best tasting water...then again, I think tons of bottled waters taste bad as well. Evian is awful, in my opinion.

yeah, I'd imagine if 13 million people had dangerous water, we'd hear about it somehow. I do agree that certain bottled water tastes better than others.

evian does taste bad...so does arrowhead

I like arrowhead! I'm just leary of the purified tap water types like Dasani. In fact, Dasani tastes like dirt to me.

I actually like Voss the best. But at $2 a bottle, it's a very special treat (as in, no, I do not think it's logical or sane to spend $2 on a bottle of water. But sometimes I will. Yay hypocrisy).

nobody is saying tap water is horrible for you. it's probably not that bad. i just cant stand the taste. yes allie once again is right dasani is awful as is aquafina. and kirkland. and sparkletts. and deja blue. coz these are.. tap water.

evian and fiji are great, expensive, arrowhead and crystal geyser best of modest prices. i agree once again allie that voss is amazing but its usually sold for liek $5 at resatuarnts for 16 oz . do u get it wholesale somewhere.

and the bottle is cool :p
