Where to go for a music major in California

I want to know which schools provide the best program for alto/tenor saxophone performance and jazz studies. I've heard good things about UCSB, USC, UCLA, and UCSC, but i just wanted more opinions.

I’m not real familiar with California, but I wonder if there wouldn’t be something in one of the Claremont colleges.

You should post this in the music major forum, since people there will have had much more experience.

UCLA and USC would be your top choices. You might want to check out CS Long Beach . http://www.csulb.edu/depts/music/brass/brass.html</a> The Claremont colleges do not have much in the way of music. And yes…search the Music Majors forum. [Music Major - College Confidential](Music Major - College Confidential Forums)

Have you also looked into Chapman to see if they have what you’re looking for?

If you are dedicated, try some conservatory of musics, like this one

[- San Francisco Conservatory Of Music -](http://www.sfcm.edu/prospective/prospective.aspx)

You will receive world class one on one instructions.

SF Conservatory does not offer a saxophone performance major nor do they have a jazz studies program.
