My options are:
University of Oregon
Pre-Business
No information on aid yet
CU Boulder
Pre-Business
No information on aid yet
UMass Amherst
Economics (Want to switch to management of some sort)
$8,000 a year scholarship
Michigan State
Economics (Want to switch to a business major, but not sure which)
$10,000 a year scholarship
I will be visiting all of the schools soon, but what are the pros and cons of each school. I want to join Greek life, but my parents will not let me. I want a school that I can still party at and have fun without being in Greek life. I obviously want the best business school/management school, but I mostly want to enjoy my time at school. That includes a manageable workload, nice people, and a fun place to be.
Don’t look at the FA info in terms of scholarships. Look at the bottom line price after aid.
The costs aren’t too big of a problem. They are just small considerations. I mostly want advice on how good the schools are and how enjoyable free time is.
How did these end up on your application list in the first place? What were your criteria for deciding if they were “good” enough to make the list?
Run the numbers here: http://www.finaid.org/calculators/awardletteradvanced.phtml That might eliminate one or another pretty quickly.
Having fun (or not) is up to you. If you mostly want to enjoy your time at school, then maybe you should take a gap year and go to college when you are ready to focus on your studies.
“The costs aren’t too big of a problem. They are just small considerations”
Are your parents in agreement with this?
At UMass Amherst economics is not in the business school. Transferring into Isenberg is not trivial. I wouldn’t assume that you can just do that. Its a much harder admit than just getting in as an economics major.
