Where to go???

Hi everyone!

I am an international undergraduate applicant. I have been applying to the US colleges for the last two years - unfortunately unsuccessful... First time, I was denied admission both at Lehigh and Bucknell. Next time, I couldn't attend the college because: I didn't get enough finaid at the U of New Hampshire and Hood College; was waitlisted at Quinnipiac; got rejected at Gettysburg. It seems to me that something is wrong with my college selection... Maybe I am not able to do a thorough research as to where I would be lucky enough to get in and study???

Now I am getting ready for a third go... Full of hope and believe that constant dropping wears away the stone... Napoleon Hill used to encourage: a failure maybe temporary one and you might be standing right next to success... Trying to draw inspiration from this phrase =)

For the time being I am polishing my statement of purpose and waiting for letters of recommendations to be issued. At this point, I would be grateful if you suggest me schools where I could apply and receive a full-ride or other substantial finaid package with the following stats:

Age: 22
Country of residence: Uzbekistan
Term: Fall 2007
Major: Business Administration
SAT I: CR-610, W-650, M-730
TOEFL CBT: 267
High School GPA: 4.0
Class rank: top 5%
Other educational background: In 2003 - Certificate of Foundation Studies with distinction from Westminster University, London (pre-University year)
Work experience: Since 2004 - futsal specialist, do not play though.

Well... I think it is all about me... Cannot think of anything else to add, but I will immediately post any further info about myself if youa ask =)

Thank you for your time and consideration given to this post...

Westmonster

Go to some site like fastweb.com and fill out a survey so they can give u a list of scholarships for you-including schools that offer scholarships to students who are like you. Also, pick a wider range-don't set your sites on 2 schools, bc it will be easier to get disappointed- apply to more schools that interest you.

Yeah if you apply to so few places you're setting yourself up for failure. Apply to 10 schools, the ability to shop financial aid is worth the application fees and effort.

Many thanx for suggestions.

As a matter of fact, I am considering the following schools:

Clemson, Radford, Hampton, Delaware, Northeastern Illinois, Howard, Wake Forest, Lake Forest, Rhodes, Ohio Wesleyan...

Could you suggest something else, please???

Why not look at more state schools?

uve got a good report from hs...good gpa..good sat..that toefl is out of 300 right? but did u have ecs in hs? If so which ones

Thank you again for your posts...

Well, I would apply to any state university if I knew which of them could offer me generous financial aid given my stats above... I have used Princetonreview.com, Collegeboard.com, Petersons.com and some other school search engines, but I have not found anything worthy so far. That is why I was wonder if anyone of you personally knows a schools, which coult meet my demands...

As for my ecs (I believe this abbreviation to mean - extracurricular) - soccer and basketball, several high school performances in English, baseball - which is unique for Uzbekistan - used to pitch... Well, I am good in performing at stage... I guess that is it =)

Btw, my TOEFL score of 267 is out of 300 possible...

Hampton and Howard are colleges that have mostly black students. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing when it comes time to hand out the financial aid, they have higher priorities than Uzbeks.

There are some state universities that are easy to get into and reasonably priced even if you are from another country. Try the U of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arizona State, U of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, Florida State U, U of Kansas, Louisiana State U, U of Tennessee-Knoxville, U of Oklahoma, West Virginia University, U of New Mexico, Texas Tech, Oregon State U, Iowa State U, U of Kentucky, and U of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Ohio Wesleyan recently did intl recruiting in the Central Asia but Uzbekistan was not one of the countries the OWU recruiter visited due to the visa restrictions in the country. My guess, a good application may give you an edge over other intl applicants due to your country of original and the recent OWU efforts in that region.

Wow... Thanks for suggestions!!! I will consider all of them...

Well, actually I am up to applying for North-Eastern schools... It may be silly of me, because I know them to be mostly private, tough to get into, stingy... I just wonder if there are liberal arts colleges, where business is among strong disciplines, with financial aid???

Anyways - I believe that my research is not a thorough one - I have got a computer in the office, so I need to jointly manage fulfilling my job duties and research on the schools in the meantime. I hope to buy a computer soon, get it connected to Internet and have a look at as many schools as possible. Write to them, ask straightforwardly if there is a slightest chance for me to get fin.aid... So on and so forth...

By the way, could you please reflect on my stats. Are they attractive enough??? Or is there a room for me to improve??? By the way, I am unable to take SAT or TOEFL anymore, because testing centers in Uzbekistan closed down... Weird, isn't it??? The same happened to ACCELS, IREX and some other American organizations here...

Thank you in advance once again =)

Another of my wonders is that if applying EA or ED would give me an edge over others and increase my chances for obtaining fin.aid. Am I eligible as an international applicant use Early Action or Early Decision advantages??? And what is the basic difference between them actually???

Thanx in advance =)

Ummm... I was just wondering if it will help if I post my message in another forum, let's say "What are my chances". Will it return more replies??? What do you think what is the most popular section of CC???

It seems like your answer deposits have been exhausted =)
