I am currently at a California community college and I started here in fall of 2014 and will be done this spring. I took an econ class in high school during spring of 2014 and I got college credit for it.On my college transcript it says spring 2014 with a B grade but I was still in high school during that time. Do I change my years attended from fall 2014 - spring 2016 to spring 2014 - spring 2016 on the application?
If the course was taken at the community college or through some sort of mutual agreement/dual enrollment program, then you were technically registered at both institutions at the same time. You took the course in 2014, therefore, you were technically a student at the CC. You were not a full time student, but you were a student. It is no different than students who take courses at certain colleges over the summer in between semesters elsewhere. Many high school students are enrolled at community colleges. They are simply not full time students. Considering the fact that you only took that one class, they will assume that you took it high school.
Community colleges are not restrictive in the way that universities are.
Oh, and I didn’t answer the last question.
I doubt that the admissions reps will actually care, but you might as well put it all together and categorize it as Spring to Spring. Many seniors take community colleges courses and they are technically students of that institutions in doing so. As I said, they will expect that the lone course in the spring was taken prior to the time that you really jumped into college life given your high school graduation information.
Choose the CCC in question, list the term and the course. Then simply choose the next term you were at a CCC and proceed from there. If there was a gap, the app will ask why and simply say you took the course while in high school.
