Please I need help. I am a transfer student and I couldnt get the dorms I need something like walking distance and between $500-700 a month. I would really appreciate it. I also went to the och.umd.edu website but its not that helpful

Why is it not helpful?

You can search by distance from school+by price.

A quick browsing showed listings for single rooms in houses walking distance to campus in that price range, as well as people in apartments looking for roommates.

The site can be annoying during the summer because some people are looking only for summer or fall subleases. But there are also a wide variety of options for year leases.

I used the “advanced search”, put pricing range 0-700, and pages and pages popped up. I suggest leaving all/most of the other fields blank (besides distance) as some houses have amenities but they are unlisted and it would narrow your search unnecessarily. I would be sure to ask about amenities when calling your options, but cast the search net widely. There would be very few apartment rooms to yourself in that range, but open rooms in houses/shared apartment bedrooms should be plentiful.

I also suggest checking out the Diamondback online. They have “for rent” ads. But I think the och.umd.edu would be the most helpful.

Try these two websites which may be helpful

[University of Maryland - Off-Campus Housing Search](<a href=“University of Maryland | Your Home Away From Home”>University of Maryland | Your Home Away From Home)
[University of Maryland - Off-Campus Housing Home Page](<a href=“University of Maryland | Your Home Away From Home”>http://www.umd.och101.com/)

One of them has a roommate finder also, which may help reduce costs.
Some other threads (off-campus housing), whicxh I have also posted on, may also help.

Some apartment buildings close to campus and either walking distance or on the UMD shuttle line (which run from approximately 7 in the morning until 3 in the morning) are University Club, Parkside Apartments and The View (probably most expensive). Rom sin these buiklings could definitely be in your price range if you share the apartment).

Good liuck!
