Where to park a car for 2 weeks?

I need a place to park a car in Berkeley for 2 weeks.

Are there safe lots which provide this?

You can park on-street in areas away from campus ([Parking:RPPMap - City of Berkeley, CA](http://www.cityofberkeley.info/ContentDisplay.aspx?id=9596)) anything non-colored on the map is free.
Pros: Free
Cons: a pesky resident can report your car as abandoned if its in the same place for 3 days, car can be ticketed if you don’t move for street sweeping

Or you can pay/negotiate with someone off craigslist to rent a space
([classifieds - craigslist](<a href=“SF bay area for sale - craigslist”>SF bay area for sale - craigslist))
Pros: secure if gated, car less likely to be stolen or broken into
Cons: costs money

I forgot to mention that you can also park at a BART station (Ashby or N. Berkeley are the closest stations w/ parking) It’s $5 per day go to this site to reserve ([Permit-Sales.com Client redirect](http://www.permit-sales.com/bart/))
