Hi I have a son who is a writer. I was wondering where he can has his stories / essays published? Are there any magazines / news papers interested in works of hs writers? thank you

Not publication, but has he looked at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards?

My daughter has some things published by magazines targeting young people.
Does his school have a newspaper/magazine?

Look at Narratively.

Thank you guys! He will try Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and is also looking for some other opportunities. We will find more about advices from emeraldkity4 and Consolation, thank you!

Anyone know, does Scholastic Art and Writing awards accept submission of work which has already been published?

http://www.teenink.com/</a> might also be a good outlet, and don’t overlook local competitions, often sponsored by your public library

I think the Scholastic submissions have to be unpublished, but their website will have the specifics.

All I’ve been able to find is a discussion of copyrights. Other contests I’ve seen have said quite clearly what the policy is. I don’t really have any experience with this, but considering there are only so many quality works a kid can produce, not really clear whether it’s best to send it to Scholastic or to some publishing venue, if it’s not possible to do both.

Imagine Magazine publishes some stuff. Book reviews. But most are not unsolicited. Check the website.

The National YoungArts Foundation also accepts written works <a href=“YoungArts | Acceptd”>Acceptd;
