Where to send the deposit: PITT or BU?

I really can't decide.
Pitt offers a good business school with great school spirit, something I'm really looking for. The city is extremely excessible as well without being IN the city.
BU offers the hockey culture which I would die to be a part of and a great city.
I'm so conflicted, I really don't know where to go.

Pittsburgh has a huge hockey culture (http://shorthandedbreakaway.com/2009/07/08/pittsburgh-is-the-new-hockeytown/</a>), just not college hockey. It was just ranked as the number one hockey fans in the country by Forbes (http://www.wpxi.com/sports/22007762/detail.html</a>). Pitt does have a couple of club teams (see http://www.pitthockey.com/</a>) and Robert Morris has a D1 team in the city, but it doesn’t have that college hockey thing that is going on in Boston.

The arena is about a 5-10 min free bus ride from campus.

If you are interested in school spirit, I don’t think you’ll be able to find an equivalent at a school that doesn’t have a BCS-level athletics department, which is what you’ll find at Pitt. Pitt will be ranked around 15th to start the football season this fall and will be in the top 10 in basketball. Both finished in the top 20 this past year and right now Pitt baseball is ranked 24th (by college baseball news).

I really like both schools. While Pitt offers more school spirit, Boston is the cooler city and community.

I really like both Boston and Pittsburgh as cities. I’ve never lived in Boston though, just visited, but I think Pittsburgh is generally under rated. I certainly liked living there better than Miami (except for the weather) and Philadelphia (better city parks). I think the one thing Pitt does very well is get students to explore and participate in things going on around the city. All public transportation is free for Pitt students. Most of the museums are also free (Carnegie museums of natural history and art, Warhol, Phipps, Mattress Factory, etc). There are all sorts of discounted tickets for things like plays and music through the PittArts program. Honestly, I don’t know of another school that has so many programs set up that basically says “Please take advantage and go outside the campus and explore the city”. Check out the PittArts program: [PITT ARTS : University of Pittsburgh](http://www.pittarts.pitt.edu/)

No matter what, you’re not going to make a bad choice. What do you think you’re going to study? The strengths of various academic programs might also weigh in your decision a little bit?

Im going to study business and I hope to work in the sports industry one day.
Pittsburgh has the Penguins/Pirates who I know take interns.
Boston has the Bruins/Red Sox/Celtics and I know the Bruins take interns.
Its a really tough choice as both schools are similar. What I lose in school spirit for basketball/football, I gain in school spirit for hockey, my favorite sport.

Not the business end, but I had a friend who was an athletic trainer and interned with the Steelers and ended up getting a full time training job with them. I know a lot of people that interned in Pitt’s athletic department and ended up getting into college sports that way as well.

BTW, I saw you ask this in another thread: This year BU averaged 5,167 per game for hockey in their 6,300 seat arena (82% capacity). I don’t know what part of that is student attendance though.
