Where to stay when visiting?

Hotel suggestions, anyone?

To get a feel for the surrounding areas I’d suggest 3 places. The Cheshire Inn about 3/4 of a mile south of campus, the Moonrise about 1/2 mile north of campus in the Loop entertainment area or the Chase (more expensive) a mile or so east at the other end of the big park. Good luck.

Knight Center, in campus, 1bed /room

Crowne Plaza, free full breakfast, free airport shuttle and free shuttle to Wustl, free parking on weekend.

Ritz-Carlton, $$$$$.

Hampton Inn by Forest Park is close to campus, has free parking and free breakfast. Other good choices were already mentioned in this thread. When making a reservation at any hotel near Wash U, make sure to ask for the Wash U rate as well as any other discount rate that you are entitled to claim. Most of the time the Wash U rate is the best, but the one time I stayed at the Crowne Plaza, the AAA rate was better. Crowne Plaza is nice, but the shuttle isn’t always available for trips to campus (trips to the airport take priority) so you may have to pay for cab fare to and from campus.

Knight Center really gives you an on campus experience.

We prefer Homewood Suites by the Galleria. Great breakfast!

^^^^^
We stayed at the Homewood Suites by the Galleria when we visited a couple weeks ago. Nice clean cookie-cutter hotel with friendly staff and free breakfast. But what was especially nice about it was it gave us a chance to explore the convenience of the Metrolink. We flew in on Sunday afternoon, took the Metrolink from the airport to a stop about a block from the hotel. We walked across the street to The Galleria for a late lunch. That evening we took the Metrolink from the hotel to campus to explore. There are two train stations close to campus - we used one when we arrived on campus and the other when we left - just to get a feel for using public transportation. It was so fast and easy! On Monday morning, after the free breakfast, we took the free friendly shuttle from the hotel to campus for our visit. So the Homewood Suites gave us a good opportunity to explore the public transportation. BTW, WUSTL students get a free transit pass.

i suggest the knight center - right on campus, free breakfast. it’s one bed per room but the times i visited with both my parents we were able to get a cot as well. there are definitely cheaper options in the area but i definitely recommend staying there if there’s availability since it doesn’t have that many rooms.

i also know people who like moonrise hotel on the loop (like 10 minute walk from campus) but i’ve never stayed there so i can’t say from personal experience how it is

We stayed at the Knight Center a couple of times. It’s nice, clean, inexpensive, and right on campus, but not very “exciting”.

At all subsequent visits we’ve stayed at the Moonrise. Much funkier, tres chic, right on the Loop (so you won’t need a car), and a five-minute walk from the Metro, with easy access to Lambert Airport. It’s a 10-minute walk to campus. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Cheshire Inn while visiting - very nice and free breakfast.
