Where to take Computer Science as an international student?

Hello friends!

I'm an international student, so to say, I'm from Germany.
Currently, I search some additional universities to apply to that strongly focus on computer science. Computer science is my passion. I love it.

For me, a good university is one that contains about 30% international students (I want to be together with people being in same situations, as everybody does!) and, of course, offers campus housing.
Situated in a big city - either west or east coast - would be wonderful, but isn't a must.
Quality of teaching matters the most. I want to get the most of my next four years.

Can you give me some useful insights?
What do you think would be a good fit?
Have you made own experiences with Computer Science?
Where do you study and how is the environment?

You’re not going to get 30% international students anywhere in the US (assuming you’re talking about undergrad)

Hi, I think that’s possible indeed! There are a lot of universitys at which that’s the case. Let’s take, for instance, the MIT.
( <a href=“BigFuture College Search”>BigFuture College Search; )

On the left-hand column, select “Campus Life,” then take a look at the pie-chart at the bottom/right hand side. You’ll see:
92% Out of state
08% In state

That’s saying that 8% of MIT students are from Massachusetts. Most MIT students are from other US states.

I believe around 10% of MIT undergrads are international students.

Okay, I see! I obviously misunderstood this one, sorry.
Let’s ignore this 30%
wall
, therefore!

So, WaitingForGodot, do you have any cool proposals?

If you are not a genius, you probably wont’ get into MIT anyways. MIT strictly selects the cream of the crop. Since you are talking tristate, try Columbia, Cornell, Stony Brook, Princeton. These are top schools for computer science.

Can you pay $60,000 a year for your college education, or will you need financial aid?

Outside of the tri-state area, some of the best universities for computer science in the US are Stanford, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and the University of Washington.

Thanks for the suggestions!
