hey ill be a sophmore at nyu next year and im thinking about transfering. i was wondering where a 3.5 gpa (hopefully 3.7 by next year) and a decent highschool record could get me. i was thinking like unc, duke, georgetown, uva, vanderbilt maybe. im looking for warm weather, good school overall and some where i could be accepted. as a major im undecided now but maybe econ/business or pre med.

thanks

i think you have a shot at unc, gtown, uva, and vandy. however, duke is not an option.

From what I hear, UVA is near impossible to get into as an out of state transfer, can anyone give me confirmation on this? Because I like the school a lot, the only reason I wouldn't apply is because it is so hard (my stats aren't great right now, but they'll be good after next semester). UNC on the other hand views all transfers equally regardless to where they are a resident.

UVA is really tough on out of staters. Although it is not as tough on OOS'ers as the california system or the university of florida. 33% of UVA is out of state students.

true, but I asked the regional admissions officer what the acceptance rate was, and she said it was near impossible. Considering that the OOS acceptance rate for freshmen is in the teens, I assume it is the same or lower for transfers, plus more difficulty to get into a program like McIntire? I mean UVA doesn't have the system that UNC has...
