I am currently a first-year student in a women's LAC. As a scared international I applied early decision and felt ecstatic at arriving here, but in a semester all that initial joy disappeared: I thought I would like a small town, but sometimes I just feel trapped in the middle of nowhere. The classes are either uninvolving or designed from the "gender" viewpoint (which is not bad, but in moderate doses only). I am amazed at the lack of course diversity - I am having a difficulty picking out classes at the moment, because they either have a weird focus on something I find ridiculous or just do not fit my schedule because all course sections are at the same time. The Five College Consortium doesn't help - there is this huge problem of commuting.
Though I found some great friends here, I don't want to stay here for the rest of my undergrad life. I want to invest my effort into studying somewhere I would really like.
I understand that I am kind of late, but I started to investigate the possibility of transferring just recently. I need help in finding a school I would fit in. The main requirement is generous financial aid to internationals: I need a full ride.
So, I am an economics major. I want another major (or minor) in either development studies/anthropology or math. My GPA is 3.9/4.0. The main reason I'm concerned about my chances is my ec's. I am a member of 2 clubs and an organization, but nothing more - my work-study considerably limits my free time.
Should I even bother to transfer? Is it feasible for me to even find a school which would accept me and still give me enough finaid?
Each opinion will be appreciated :)

in this economy, you are going to be very hard pressed to find a school willing to grant an international xfer a full ride(transfers usually are more hard pressed to get fin. aid than are people coming out of hs)...the type of school that might theoretically offer generous financial aid to an international transfer is one that is well below the type of school that you were looking at...would you be willing to do this? if your ec's arent great, im not sure many schools would be desperate enough to have you that they would offer you a full ride...

Hey lala414, are you a student at Mt Holyoke? Is it possible for you to elaborate more on why you don't find the college a good fit for you, as I have heard a lot more positive things about the college. Yep, I applied to the college this year. Sorry for the digression!
