Hi, I am a senior in high school and am awaiting letters from several schools. I am very nervous over where I will get accepted. I applied to University of Southern California, Purdue University, University of Texas, University of Florida, University of Michigan, and Notre Dame. I was denied from Notre Dame and waitlisted at Michigan. Of the other four schools, which ones do you think I will get in to? Here are some of my credentials.
4.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
5 IB classes senior year
27 ACT
1270 SAT
Work part time 12 hrs a week
National Honors Society
President of Finance Club
Your GPA is excellent (assuming it is unweighted), but your ACT/SAT is on the low side, especially for these schools. Without knowing more details about your background, you probably have the best chance of acceptance at Purdue (ACT just below their median), followed by UT and Florida, which are still high matches. USC is a definite reach, as your test scores are in the lower 25th percentile.
Have you applied to any safeties? A safety school is one where your stats (GPA and ACT) are within the top 25th percentile, and which is definitely affordable for your family. There is still some time to apply to a few schools where your chances of acceptance are higher than at those on your current list.
All of these colleges are affordable by my family. My GPA is unweighted. I was using Purdue as my safety. My brother graduated from Purdue on the deans list. What other information would you like to know? I would be happy to respond.
You have great academic and EC stats. That being said, I think you have a good chance with Purdue, Florida, and Texas. I know that USC is an extremely competitive school for getting accepted into if you don’t compete in a sport. Do you play a sport?
