where will You be applying?

Fall2014 applicants from Nepal, let's post where we will be applying so that we can help each other out. please post your stats (high school grades, SAT 1 and 2 scores, extracurricular involvement/achievements, etc) as well.

for starters, I will be applying to U of Notre Dame, MIT, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Trinity C, Swarthmore C, Vandy, Duke and some other (to be precise, 3) safeties.
SAT-- 760 CR, 800 M, 800 W
SAT 2-- Math2- 800, Physics- 800, Chem- 800
HSEB +2-- 78%
SLC-- 88%
Extra Curriculars-- nothing significant
Recommendation-- will probably be crap! teachers hand out the same, dull ones to everyone!

Hey, If you are expecting Financial aid, Notre Dame does not provide to internationals.
Which school did you attend?

will apply to yale, princeton, dartmouth, swarthmore, williams, macalester, carleton and colby for sure. applied ED to UPenn.

sat 1: 780 CR, 750 M, 750 W. retook it in november, hoping for an 800 in math.
sat 2: 800’s in math 2 and physics.
a levels: four A*'s, one A.

ecs are solid, with a lot of recognition (being deliberately vague about this).
recos are very solid as well.

suggest you guys apply at Colgate too.

Mumford, Notre Dame’s web states it provides merit based aid that can cover up to full CoA to int’l applicants . so i am willing to take chances. also, why don’t you tell us which colleges you’ll be applying to? it’ll be helpful to all of us. please state your school as well along with your stats.

I am from St Xaviers.

Well I am from St. Xavier’s too! and I applied to Penn ED and EA to Colorado College and UNC Chapel Hill
Notre Dame sure is an awesome school best of luck!

800 in CR and math :D!!! writing however dropped significantly… lol simply abysmal. thank god for super scores.

and mumford yeah thanks for reminding me, i applied to colorado college too.

Congratulations Horcruxes! Which school did you attend?

thanks! i did my a levels in india. 9, 10 in nepal.

Best of luck with your applications! Hope we both get in.

Congrats Horcruxes. You sure would have made Voldy proud! ;)

on another note, a rather amusing news-- I saw a post on an Indian thread that said some Indian students are attending Ivies because they were not accepted to their “top choice” Indian universities. seriously, one girl got accepted to Dartmouth, Duke, Wesleyan, Cornell, Bryn Mawr, Smith, Barnard, and U of Virginia, and accepted a place in Dartmouth “only because she couldn’t get into Delhi University.”

check out this link [Squeezed out in India, students turn to US | NDTV.com](<a href=“Squeezed out in India, students turn to US”>Squeezed out in India, students turn to US)

My november SAT score is 1940(1280), SAT 2(2040) and 86.3% in class 12.
Do i still stand a chance for full scholarship? Is it too late to prepare all the documents and write essays if I apply for fall 2014?
Thanks

rockzz, you can always try this year if you can manage to craft a beautiful essay! you do stand a chance for full scholarship

and always you can apply next year by giving it time and improving your scores

hey Rockz. I think your SATs are fine. But if you tell us more about your academics like individual SAT subject test scores, SLC grades, 11th grade grades, we might be able to give you a more helpful insight. If full rides are what you’re looking for then I encourage you to apply to reputed private universities. the trend among private universities is that they consider factors other than your SATs and academics when deciding whether or not to admit you. but of course, i’m sure you know all this pretty well (sorry for sounding preachy :)). i would also suggest you to retake subject tests (and if possible, SAT 1) by January. You can request colleges to consider your January SAT. i guess most of them will agree.
PS: It would be good for us if you mention your school and the list of colleges you’ll possibly apply to. :)

and yes, like Mumford said, take great care with your essay. you should be fine then.

Remember, Colleges are always looking for diversity apart from your scores. So, if you play it right, this might be your lucky year!

by the way, Mumford, you’re applying to UNC? you know they don’t provide need based aid right?
