I don't agree with the assessment of SMU. Their initial response, when Columbia, American, UT-Austin and UT-Dallas had already said "come and we'll work out the details later," SMU said "sorry we're NOT accepting students but they sure gave the media a great story because they were housing the Tulane football team. When they finally announced they WOULD accept Tulane students from Dallas, my son got there 1 hour after they opened; he waited over 2 hours and was told "Sorry can't see anyone else today"---he was next in line! They said he COULD come back the next day to try to see about registering, but classes were quite full and they should expect no more than 1-2 classes and less than full-time status at that. Meanwhile, UT-Dallas had already enrolled kids, connected with them with major advisors, and helped make connections for parking, meeting professors, etc. After my son's face-to-face with SMU, he felt that he had been slapped down AGAIN...twice in a week...and he said that he'd rather just stay home and go to UT-D. So, he's taking 3-4 courses, the profs are meeting with him 1:1 and he has every intention to return to Tulane ASAP!!!

The strength and loyalty these young men and women have to Tulane is going to make their bond even stronger when they return to help rebuild Tulane and New Orleans! Roll-On Green Wave!
