where would i fit in?! help please!!

hey guys!

entering junior year, i'm inevitably starting to think about colleges. i know what sort i'm looking for...smaller (2000 to 6000 students), coed, and with a good theatre department (this is my passion!!). i'm seriously into academics, too (i probably want to double-major in theatre and history, psychology, or education). as of now, my gpa is 3.7 (my private school is ULTRA competitive, so this gpa puts me approximately in the top 20% of my class), and i've only taken one SAT subject test (730). my principal ECs are theatre, writing (published in national mags, editor of school lit. mag), art (internships, classes, etc), and music (lessons for many years, performances in professional venues). also, if it matters (which it probably does), i'm not a URM or a legacy anywhere.

any suggestions as a good match would be really appreciated...

I'm not sure how good William and Mary's theatre dept is,but here is the link:

I do know that they are excellent in history and education departments as well, and there are 5000 undergrads. Worth checking into it.

Well are you more into technical theatre, or acting? because i poked around some theatre programs during my college search and some schools are more actor oriented in their approach. I ultimately decided not to double major in theatre, but instead find a school that had lots of opportunites for non-majors to be involved.

From what I've found, most liberal arts colleges have anywhere from decent to pretty damn good theatre programs (short of auditioning or showing a portfolio). One of the considerations you'll want to take into account is how well equipped their performance space because some schools unfortunately are still relatively in the dark ages.

Since it doesn't appear that you're looking at a theatre major from a BFA stand point, I would start looking at schools (primariy LACs) with some of the characteristics that you would want (student body, academic programs, size, location, etc.) and then start to narrow it down from there based on the strength of their theatre programs in the direction you want to take (be it acting, tech, or even a specific tech).
