haha...good for you figgy lol !!!

wait a second
i thought brown and dartmouth were the worst ivy all along

How can there be a "worst" among the Ivy League? This concept eludes me. Obviously, Harvard, Yale and Princeton, given their enormous endowments, long histories and extensive alumni networks are truly in a league of their own. But how does one differentiate between the other 5? They are very different from each other to start with, each founded on unique principles that they remain faithful to until this day. However, no matter how different they are, all 5 universities are amazing.

actually i believe columbia belongs up there in a "league of its own" because of its enormous international prestige

Yea, the FU School has so much prestige, NOT. All columbia is good for is MBA and Law and for finding emo people.

Cornell = #1, and if you don't think so then come on Cornell's campus and try and argue about it with Cornell students before a Cornell vs. Harvard Hockey game.

btw...Cornell could be the highest ivy in terms of geography, after all we are on top of a hill

lol dude i love cornell if you havent noticed from my 300 other posts ..i want to go there so badly...to me cornell is number one but in terms of international prestige columbia is better known thats all...i love cornell though dont get me wrong

"and for finding emo people"
hahahhaha

Figgy. if people are having a discussion of where Penn or Cornell are "in the Ivy rankings" (your words) then things like how hard it is to get in, and school size are relevant to the discussion. if you'd rather stay away from the "fact-based" world then i would suggest applying for a job as an administrator in the Bush administration :-). (just kidding. snowflake! snowflake!) this is a college admissions board. kids come here to get information, not to get lied to by the likes of sillyrabbit.

all of the things in my list are facts. i don't have to prove them to anyone. they can go look them up if they're really interested -- but they're not. they're only interested deluding themselves into thinking things about Cornell which are only half true. they feel somehow personally insulted when one brings up actual facts. thus the reason i have to make a list. most of the "information" given in this thread was ludicrous except Alexandre's first post, which was quite good.

and now for some more facts:
in response to the original poster's question about Cornell in world rankings, the two most well-known world rankings are done by the Times of London and by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Cornell does very well in these because they are mainly about faculty research and awards.

http://www.ugc.ac.in/notices/2006rankings.pdf
http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2006/ARWU2006_Top100.htm

for more on the methodologies, see here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_Ranking_of_World_Universities

You make it seem like the facts and statistics about Cornell would bring its students down. But actually, if you really think about it, the quality of education, or what some people call "undergraduate experience," isn't significantly different between a #5 school or a #15 school. Some may even prefer the lower ranked school over the higher ranked school.

lol ihavebunni...why are you coming in here to bash cornell? who does that?

ihaveabunni,

ummm... you're telling people who love and care about Cornell enough to come to a Cornell Forum that Cornell isn't the best college there is... That's a battle lost already.

facts are generated by people. people have emotions, and the current emotion here is really pro-Cornell.

I'm behind Figgy all the way.

go to the 7 other ivy forum and make up crap to say about time..il observe and see how welyou do

well, the OP is asking about world rank, NOT ivy rank. therefore, I believe that it is pretty high up there.

thats nto my piont...my point is that he shouldnt be going to a particular universities forum and doing nothing more than bashing that university

I followed up on that UPenn thread and I said are you guys serious about Cornell? and he's like Cornell does suck that much and you do for defending it. ...

Huh, you mean Penn State? Never heard of UPenn.

lol ( 10 char )

They are just insecure with themselves, that's all.

Wait?!

Cornell is in the Ivy League....?

(laughs)... damn.

what a shame.

I say we admit Stanford/Duke and drop Cornell/Brown

lmao stanman
you're that ugly guy from the ivy league facebook group
and you just copied exactly what you typed out in that thread you started there, hahahah!!!!
its cause you got yourself pretty bashed up from everyone else there isnt it?
