It's seriously all insecurity. Just because Yale makes fun of Harvard and Harvard makes fun of Yale doesn't make either any worse. UPenn is around Cornell's greatness so some people feel the need to make fun of the other school. Don't even let it get ur view of Cornell down cuz it's all just rivalry ********.

No no no I'm not letting them get my view of Cornell down. Cornell is totally cool. I can imagine how cool the school is from the fact that it's the most friendly forum in the whole CC.

Cornell is an incredible school,
with a very intimate student-teacher relationship (party because of the remote location)- there is an enormous variety of excellent departments, even ones that normally don't have such a high rating such as economics in fact have incredible faculty (the reason they don't get much attention is because they are grouped together with the ILR faculty, although they are obviously also very good)
I don't think that it's a matter of ranking it against other ivy-league schools, because it has a very unique atmosphere. All of them have brilliant people working there are brilliant students attending. I don't think that Brown, for example, is any worse, for example, it just have a different structure. Stratifying within the Ivy League ( middle ivy??) is creating a distinction which really does not exist.

score isn't everything, but it does measure something. DUH
which is why i also included other information

Ya saying Brown isn't good is really really stupid too. It is still one of my favorite schools ever along with Cornell. Such an awesome place. All the Ivy's are soooo amazing that it's incredibly dim-witted to put one down. We r sooooo lucky to be going to such a great place. Just think of all those people who weren't born with the opportunity to go to such a place. I mean these are the best and brightest people in the WORLD going to Cornell!! I get so happy when I think about going to Cornell. It's simply an INCREDIBLE place!

only those in Wharton at UPenn have enough cred to bash anyone, the rest of UPENN = TTT. Seriously, UPenn is in the worst part of Philly, and their only claim to fame in sports is that their basketball team gets knocked out in the first round in the NCAA. Meanwhile, Cornell hockey has racked up several 1st place finishes in the NCAA. Also, UPENN ENGR = TTT. UPenn is the like the WUSTL of the ivies.

Just wait now someone from UPENN is going to make list of how their sociology department ranks higher then ours, that's almost like WUSTL stating that its major in social services (or whatever) is #1 in the nation. Then they'll bring up how they're top 10 in econ, but once again that is due to Wharton.

Ivy part of UPENN = Nursing and Wharton

The rest of UPENN = PSU

I'm pretty sure that if Wharton left UPENN it would be inducted into the ivies, and UPENN would be kicked out and forced to join some random league, perhaps public ivy.

Also, to end another possible discussion

Stanford = lack of east coast connections (google connections maybe)
Duke = Laxpwn3d

Rankings will rise and fall. I can't wait until Penn State (Your Pen?) goes back down from its inflationary phase and eats the dust and cleans my fecal matter in the toilet where it belongs. Don't worry, it won't be too long.

True. Penn 10 years ago used to be the Ivy-reject school, like Cornell is today ;)

I wish you and others would stop calling Cornell the "ivy-reject school". Getting into Cornell in itself (and staying there!) is a great accomplishment, even if you don't think it is, and demeaning the accomplishments of others like that just sucks. Also, if you don't know anything about a school besides its admission rate or what other people who don't know anything about it either have said, I would suggest not judging it.

I will smash your face into a car windshield, and then take your mother Dorothy Mantooth out for a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

And you have bad hair! Your hair looks stupid!!

Hey hey hey Ivy and reject are two contradictory words that never go together…frankly its sad how people should be so unsure/ insecure about themselves…life must really suck!
hahaha….love the ad hominem attacks….^^lol

Funny thing is I rejected other ivies to go to Cornell, including PSU (oops I meant UPenn)

"UPENN ENGR = TTT" - false
Cornell does have respectable engineering programs. But i would like to point out UPenn's biomedical engineering rank is higher than cornell's. hate to use ranking as an argument but i had to respond to MUnited's inaccurate and ignorant post.

Munited - and sorry to break it to you, wharton is upenn, and it always will be. saying if wharton's not a part of upenn, penn would suck is like saying, (exaggerated example) if U.S. didn't have its powerful military and weapons, U.S. will be nothing.
Also, stanford is a very respectable school and has more than google connections. alot better than cornell will ever be.
Everyone can also agree that Duke provides a fine education and it's a difficult institiution to get into, harder than cornell.
although cornell is a very good school, it's true that it is easier to get into among ivies. and stop talking about the past when penn used to "ivy-reject." all that matter is, it is better than cornell as of now. and in the future with their improvement.
munited - finally, it's hard to belive u rejected other ivies. be realistic

It's hard to believe that people can be so arrogant and jerkish and live in such a bubble. Ur lucky I can't swear on this forum. Get an f'in life and get out of this forum. Hate mongers, go do it somewhere else. Fools...I'm happy I don't go to school with people like you. Your right, ur better than everyone, now have fun in the real world.

Is it me or does this board get a larger share of trolls than other schools' forums?

I'm sure all boards have trolls but I seriously don't see why people feel the need to. lol as you can see in my post above they reallllly annoy me.

yo vissanik go away...thanks =)

Ya…there are many unstable people who try to carry through with their erroneous beliefs…but its fine…they must lack something essential in their life that causes them to feel the way they feel…!

wait a sec lemme offer you another ranking that is not biased to american opinion

1 Harvard Univ
2 Univ of Cambridge
etc. etc.
12 Cornell University
etc. etc.
15 Univ Pennsylvania
