The situation is that since I happen to be in TAP and I can easily get into UCLA, UCSD and a chance at Berkeley. Where else do I have a shot to get into?
ECs
Volunteer/Assistant Coach for my former High School Speech & Debate team
Tap program
might do TAE(honor society)
Psychology Club
VCP (Theater Club)
I want to join the poltical science club but it conflicts with one of my classes, how can I be apart of it without being there lol (weird huh)?
Are those pretty good ecs??
As for recs if im a poli sci/psychology major which professors would I benefit from the most?
As for my college gpa, Its a 3.6, but by the end of the semester it might be a 3.8 and I'm taking 4 honors out of 5 classes (I might do honors more then expected out of tap because its no big deal.)
My high school stats are
GPA: 3.3 (outside top 30%)
Sat: 970
Would you suggest taking the Sat again?
What would you recommend applying? Emory? Rice? Duke? Cornell? Anything in the top 20?
Oh and consider my essays being really good, with that being said I would appreciate much feedback :).

honestly, the SAT is too low for anything in the top 20, and your GPA of 3.6 is on the low end of the spectrum for schools like duke and cornell. retake the SAT definetly, pull that GPA up, and youll be in the range for those schools.

What would be a reasonable score to be in that range? +1200? Thanks a bunch, would I have to explain my reasoning for taking the SAT again?

The higher the better. :)

1200+ is good, but 1300+ is better and 1400+ is best (well, actually, 1600 is best, but you get the idea). I don't think you'd have to explain taking it again. The transfer apps I've seen have a space for you to put the date when you "will" take the SAT next (mind you, the application, which is due in March), so it can't be extraordinary. I bet you'd do better with years of college under your belt, too.

Can't recommend where to apply without a better idea of what you're looking for in a campus, though.

Maybe you should take the ACT. I've heard of people that couldn't break 1200 on the SAT and scored 32 on the ACT.
If you do take the SAT again, make sure you study for it and take many full length practice tests.

First, it is nearly too late to apply for Fall 2005 admissions at Rice, the deadline is March 15th.

Secondly, you need at least a 1330 on the SAT in order to be competitive at Rice; if you can score a 1450+ on the SAT, then you would be increasing your chances much more.

Third, it is too late to retake the SAT for Fall 2005 Admissions.

Edit: If you are applying for later period, then disregard this post.

Does anybody know if the SAT has changed? If so what part? Thanks for posts.
What about NYU? Tufts? UMich, UVA, Georgetown, GWU, these are some universities that are not in top 20 but I think I might apply to these.

I believe the analogies have been excised in favor of a writing section, which renders the highest score a 2400; though Georgetown is not in the top 20, you would still need at least a 1250 (according to the now old SAT) in order to be competitive. Here are the official numbers from USNews:

SAT/ACT 25th-75th Percentile
Georgetown: 1290-1460
NYU: 1210-1410
Tufts: 1250-1420
UMich: 26-30 (ACT)
UVA: 1230-1430
GWU: 1180-1370

I was wondering if anyone knew the deadlines that have yet to pass for any of the schools in the top 20? I know stanford is the 15th of march, i was particularly looking for schools with good government/political science programs.
