where you go for undergrad. have an affect on getting into top law school?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. I have recently been admitted to UCLA as a Pre-Political Science major. I soon will find out if I have been admitted to Cal. If I do, I will have a difficult decision to make. I love UCLA and have dreamed of going there but I know Cal is an amazing school.

After I finish my undergraduate work I plan on applying to Law school. However, I was curious if choosing UCLA over Cal would have an effect on getting into one of the top 10 Law schools. I know that UCLA is also a very good school but can't help but wonder if going to Cal would possibly give me a better chance.

If I do well at UCLA and graduate with honors, I would imagine my chances would be very similar if I attend Cal.

Any advice, suggestions, or information would be greatly appreciated!

Where you go for undergrad really has very little effect on law school admissions.

I encourage you to look at USMC Jim’s thread a few below this one.

There are so many threads on this…

what matters is a high GPA + high lsat…

Cal and UCLA are peer undergraduate institutions. I’m not of the opinion that it never matters where you do your undergraduate work, but choosing one school versus another with a similar reputation is unlikely to make any difference.
