I heard alot of bad stories about A&M for primarily having White Conservative Republican students riding trucks that have Bush stickers on them.

Does Texas A&M lack diversity this bad? or are those stories exaggerated by disgruntled students? (I'm an Asian who doesn't want to fall into one of those UT extravaganzas).

There's not as much diversity as, say, UT, and there is more of a reputation for conservatism at A&M, but not everyone is the same. One of my friends who is a freshman there this year is white, nowhere near conservative, drives a car, and has a Lebanese roomate.

A&M isn't as diverse as many universities, but it's hardly monochromatic!

it's all in austin

Who cares about diversity? Focus on your education, not what everyone else is doing or who everyone else is.

I'll tell you right now though as an Asian, you will have no problems at A&M. There's plenty of Asians already there. UT Austin has a larger Asian population but you won't be all by your lonesome at A&M.

LOL- I have lived on campus this year, last year, and last summer, and this year and last year my roommate has been African American, and during the summer my roommate was Hispanic and my two suite mates were Asian. :-P That was all potluck roommate selection, so the ethnic diversity can't be that bad! One great organization on campus is called Asian American InterVarsity, which is a Christian Fellowship with over 100 members (you can check it out at http://aaiv.tamu.edu/) and if you are interested in that sort of thing, they are an awesome group of people. I'm sure you would find a place that you felt comfortable.
