Whether to send? (Math 2)

Hi. I was hoping for an unbiased opinion regarding whether I should send my Math 2 subject test or not.

Background: I'm a pretty strong math student as it is. However, this test never seemed to be easy for my brain to process (for whatever reason). I'm a senior right now and have already gotten some decisions back but would like to send this test to the schools to which I was deferred (Cornell and UVA) and to all of my RD schools. Georgetown in particular strongly recommends 3 (I have 2 excluding the most recent test). My math scores up to this point are a 770 and 760 on the two SAT tests I took and a 34 on my ACT. That's the reason why I thought the Math 2 would utilize a subject I'm relatively strong in while rounding out my subject tests. My other two subject tests are a 750 in US and a 650 in Bio E (which I took freshman year). Ideally, I would've liked to have taken a fourth test to cancel out bio but I really just didn't have the time.

With that said, I came out of the test today feeling much more confident about the test than I had anticipated. I left about 7-8 blank and am going to guess I got 6 wrong (+/-). For the curves that I've seen online, that's a low 700. Obviously we won't know until I get the score back but I'd like to have a concrete threshold in place just so I can know immediately whether I should be sending the score or not.

So, if any of you could come up with a number that would seem satisfactory to send (if you were in my position), I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Bump

Over 700, send. Under, don’t bother.

Thanks a lot. Anyone else care to agree or share their opinion? That’s along the lines of what I was thinking but was just curious as to what others might think/do

Bump

700+ send
700- nahhh

For more math intensive programs, 750+ would definitely look better.
Then again, I think awards in math >> standardized tests.

I’m applying to the business programs of all of my schools which, although it isn’t necessarily engineering, it is one of the more math-oriented majors. It’s for this reason that this particular test is something I really want to think through before sending.

For a slightly math- oriented major, you’re going to want 730+ to be average at Georgetown. Anything lower won’t hurt much at all, but that doesn’t really matter either way because you need to send 3 scores there anyway.

If you need 3 then you don’t have a choice. For a college that doesn’t need 3 then I would send it if it is over 700.

@MichiganGeorgia Georgetown strongly recommends three. It is not required.

However, this is now a non-issue as I got my score today- a 770 (a very pleasant surprise). I’m aware this post is already a few weeks old but I thought it would help to clear it up if anyone is ever in a similar situation and stumbles upon this thread. Thanks for the responses.

I had a similar situation, I ran out of time on my Math II test and randomly bubbled in on 4-6 questions… still scored well; generous curve maybe? anyways congrats :)

Great score applicant. I hope this improves your chances. UVA and UNC are iffy from out of state, but you are in range for their acceptance criteria. You do know that you have to apply to the business school at UNC during sophomore year as it is generally not a direct admit.
