<p>Assuming both scored a 2400 on the SAT and somewhat similar stats, who would have a better chance?</p>

Varsity sports champion</p>

First generation college student

Won numerous big academic awards (USAMO, AIME)
Learning disability</p>
<p>Student B would have a better chance, but because of the big awards (not because they are first generation). URM and first generation are viewed as basically equal among top school, it would be the GPA and ECs that would set one apart. Also top schools don’t look at income when deciding so unless the low income person had been selected as a Questbridge finalist or something impressive like that it would have no impact on admissions.</p>
<p>What could redeem student A is if student A is recruitable for his/her sport.</p>
