Which ACT score(s) should I submit?

I am trying to decide which ACT score(s) to send to a university.

I have one test that is:
32 comp, 34 eng, 36 math, 25 read, 34 science.

And another that is:
34 comp, 34 eng, 35 math, 31 read, 35 science.

Is it worth submitting the first test as well just to show the 36 on math, or is it better to withhold it since every other score is the same or worse (especially reading!). Do colleges just look at the best score, or will it hurt/help me?

Thanks,
Tyler

It depends on the school. For some elite schools, you will have to submit them all, no exceptions. Yale and Stanford are two such schools.

In all other cases, submit the latter. The difference between a 35 and 36 in math, let alone composite scores, is negligible.

Thanks for the reply! That was my gut instinct, but it’s great to hear it from someone. One quick question. Can I still put the 36 math on my common app since it does say “put your best scores” but not submit the whole official score report for the test date?

Don’t submit unless required to !!! A 35 Math and a 36 Math are both 99th+ percentile. The change is statistically insignificant and would not effect composite.

“Can I still put the 36 math on my common app since it does say “put your best scores” but not submit the whole official score report for the test date?”

BAD IDEA!!! Read “your best scores” to be on one sitting. Forget that you ever got a 36. You likely got a 35.1 once and a 35.6 the other time. Just keep your mouth shut about the other scores especially on the Common App.

Bury the old score report.

Alright well do. I can’t thank you both enough for you help. My college counselor was useless…
