my daughter will be applying to colleges now into engineering departments. She has taken the ACT three times and her scores are different for each section for each test. For schools that accept score choice, which test date(s) should see send? I am hesitant to send test one, as the composite is the lowest, but it was her hghest math and writing. Thx.
composite…31 33 33
English…35 35 35
Math…32 30 29
Reading…28 31 33
Science…29 34 34
Writing…10…9…8
Tricky. English is consistent, but math is best in #1, Reading best in #3, Science #3. As you mention, each test has a unique strength. Seems like test #2 doesn’t really add anything to the mix, but is somewhat of a bridge between the scores. I am no expert, but at the very least she should send 1 and 3. Many schools will superscore, and her highest section score across tests is a 35 E, 32 M, 33 R, 34 S, which is a 34 superscored. None of those scores came from test 2.
You will need to send two sets of scores in as engineering schooks want higher Math score. So you need to send in set 1 for the 32 in Math and then one of the other 2. Most schools do not super ore ACT but many will still look for the best section score. Set 3 would complement set1 slightly better.
