Which ACT sections count the most

I've read in several places that to get a 36 on the ACT, you have to get a 36 on English, Math, and Science, but you can theoretically miss up to two Reading questions. My question is, how does that work? To calculate the composite score, don't they just take the average of all four sections? And doesn't that mean that you can actually get two 35s and two 36s and still make a 36 overall, because 35.5 rounds up?

yea you can get 35.5 to get a 36, but usually colleges see your sub scores too, so it’s not like you’re regarded as equally as person who got 4 36’s

The composite score is calculated by averaging your English, Math, Reading, and Science scores. If the average is not an integer, it’s rounded. X.5 rounds up to X+1.

@tigerash I see… I forgot they looked at individual section scores, lol. Thanks!

They are all important.

If u want to do a science major, the science is important. And so on.
