Which Ap sciences?

For an aspiring ivy applicant from a very competitive prep school, is it important to take all three of these AP sciences: AP Bio, AP Chem, and AP Physics?

Of course not. As long as your schedule looks good as a whole you’re fine.

In my school there are pre-med kids who only took one or two of those sciences and still got in Yale, Penn, Cornell, Princeton, etc.

You dont need it, but why would you not want to take all?

What do you want to major in?

Take the ones you want to. If you like them all then take them all. If you want to be an engineer, it is important to have AP Calc BC and AP Physics and AP Chemistry, so it depends on if you are applying to a university that makes you apply to a specific school.

One of the things that matters most for college admissions is passion. Depending on what your passion is, what you take for AP can also be different. If you want to major in agricultural studies, AP chem and bio will be good enough. However, if you would like to major in electrical engineering, AP chem and physics may be preferred. Think of your major and decide what APs might suit your interst best.

What about if I have no idea what I want to major in?.. (I don’t think I can fit all three into my schedule.)

Woah woah woah, all three in the SAME year?

It can be difficult to handle even two in the same year, it’s hell to do that in my school. Just stick with one, or go two if you’re sure that you at least want to go into medicine or engineering.

It depends on what you want to major in and whether or not you would take those classes even if you weren’t aiming for Ivies. I know someone who didn’t take any of those AP science classes and will be going to an Ivy League school this fall. It’s your entire application that matters; not taking a certain AP class =/= automatic rejection.
