Which AP tests should I take if I'm going into L&S?

I want to get out of as many GE classes as possible for L&S and/or satisfy as many prerequisites as possible for other classes.
Can anyone please give me some insights on which tests to take?

I'm thinking about:

Calculus BC
Biology
Micro & Marcro
Physics C Mechanics
Government (maybe)

Please help, I don't want to pay $88 and take tests that don't do me any good

take phys B instead of C
a good score on lit can get you out of r1a/b which is nice

Depends on your major. What that means is, if you're an English major, passing out of Calculus wouldn't do you any good whereas if you're something like an engineering major, it would do you good. L&S has breadth requirements but I don't believe they can be satisfied by any AP classes. The only thing I see that will definitely help you is 4 or 5 on AP Language (gets you out of R1A) or 3 or 4 on AP Lit (gets you out of R1A) or 5 on AP Lit (gets you out of R1B). R1A and R1B are the basic required reading/composition classes.

I don't know my major yet, maybe Operation Research or maybe going into Haas.

How does AP tests satisfy prerequisites for classes? let's say if I pass AP Bio, do I get to take a higher Bio class if I want/need to?

If you want to get into Haas take both Econ APs. A double-5 on Macro and Micro allows you to skip taking Econ 1 at Cal.

This may just be for Cal States, but I've heard that you can get credit/skip classes for high SAT scores. Is this true?

Only for the writing portion.

Here is shows how APs, SAT IIs, etc can help meet the Entry-Level Writing (formerly Subject A) and American History and Institutions requirements:

I am majoring in Bio Chemistry in Letters and Science. I got a 5 on Chem AP and 4 on US History. Would taking the Bio AP and English Literature exam help my chances of skipping any course?

Yes, definitely take all of those. The best AP tests are...

AP Biology- A 5 gets you out of Bio 1A-1B, a year of intense pre-med classes. Bio 1A has organic chem as a pre-req!

AP Calc BC- A 5 gets you out of Math 1A-1B. Thats a year of intense Berkeley math. 1B is arguably the trickiest lower division math you'll take here.

AP English- A 5 gets you out of a year of R&C classes, a total pain in the ass.

AP Physics C:Mechanics- A 5 gets you out of an intense yet boring engineering class. DO NOT TAKE B INSTEAD, you can't pass out of anything!

History is pretty pointless.
Gov i think passes you out of a poli-sci class
Both Econs passes out of Econ 1
Chem passes you out of 1A but you probably want to take it anyways
Physics B and C-E are pointless
Psych passes you out of an easy 3-unit Psych class.

wow, thanks clapyourfeet

If i'm not going to be pre-med, is there point in passing AP bio?
