Which AP tests to take for engineering?

AP test money is due this week and I'm confused about which ap tests I should actually take. I got into the bioengineering program at PENN and I want to hopefully submatriculate and graduate in four years with my masters degree. I was wondering which ap credits would be helpful. These are the ones I have so far:
APUSH -5
AP Calc BC -5
AP Physics B - 5
AP English Lang - 5

These are the ones I took this year:
AP Euro
AP Latin Virgil
AP English Lit
AP Computer Science
AP Bio
AP Chem

I will not be taking the Lit test because I already got an English credit. I know that the engineering school doesn't have a language requirement but should I take the Latin test just in case I decide to get a dual degree in CAS and need the requirement?
Also, I heard somewhere that AP Bio only gives credit for the Bio 091 class which is below the Bio 121 class that BE majors start out with. Does that mean I don't have to take the AP test since it's worth nothing?
What about Chem? Is it the same way?
Should I take AP Euro if I already have a history credit from APUSH? I heard that I can only use one credit in each of the subjects so would the Euro credit go waste?
Thanks in advance!

I would say that the most important would be AP Calc BC, AP Physics B, AP Chemistry, and AP Computer Science. Good luck!

Penn has all of the credits for AP classes on their website. If you can’t find it from a Google search or directly on their website, I would be able to try and find it for you.

I would suggest taking any and all AP tests, because all of the AP’s count for something (except for Calculus AB and BC) at UPenn. Biology and Chemistry give you credit for the course, but not the labs.

I don’t think that you can only use one credit in each of the subjects. Take all of them, and if that’s true, you can look at the list and view which ones will be most beneficial to your curriculum as an engineering major.

My friend who is a freshman told me that most of the credits you are awarded from 5s on AP exams only serve for achieving the minimum number for graduation. These credits do not fulfill any major or sector requirements. Calc BC fills Math 104, so that is very useful, but for bio and chem, you must either take intro or place out of it. Either way, you will lose the AP credit after you do this. I don’t know about Computer science, but I think that most histories (I also have credit for APUSH and will be taking Euro this year) are just credits for graduation as with english, but I’m not exactly sure. Since you are in engineering, Physics B may not be as useful because the math isn’t as advanced. I know Physics C is useful though.

Here is the official transfer for AP Credits directly from UPenn.

*Students are required to sign up for a 0.5 Carnegie Unit lab which will appear separately on the transcript. (Physics B, C tests only)

This is the official chart, but as you may notice, some of the classes that you get credit for do not exist at Penn, and for these classes many times you will have to take a placement class is you wish to take further classes in that subject, but if you don’t want to take another class in the area, then the credit is fine. For example Biol 091 is not equivalent to intro Biology, Intro biology is either Biol 101 and 102 or Biol 121, and chem 091 is not intro chemistry, which is begins with chem 101 or 001. The department websites say that you must pass a placement test to pass out of intro bio or chem.

Which means that AP Credits cannot always fulfill requirements with the corresponding classes. Rather, they add classes to your transcript.

Oh okay. Thanks guys! I already signed up for all the AP tests except for English. I figured since I was taking the class, I might as well take the test. Thanks for all of your help though.

You’re very welcome. Have a great year, and good luck!
