I know a guy who has a good GPA but only took 2 AP’s junior year (another 2 senior year). He apparently had an amazing rec letter and is getting accepted everywhere. His only EC is an instrument. He shows that he is very dedicated to it, but hasn’t demonstrated any leadership.

Chococookie: Where has your friend gotten accepted to? And what is his instrument? It can be very helpful to be exceptional at an instrument like the tuba that few students take up.

An ignorant statement at best. While it is true you don’t need a 2400/4.0 to gain acceptance to T20 schools, a 2000 SAT certainly does not bolster the already slim chances at these selective schools. By claiming that both will be accepted by T20 schools, you’re just conveying how little you know.

Alot depends on what type of school would these ( you and your friend) applications be admitted into and intended major… and maybe standout EC’s. Though base specifically off what is listed and known I would say app B.

Both. B is a little bit better, in my opinion, but there really is little difference between the two applicants stats-wise, unless you’re talking one of the most selective schools.
Good luck to you and your friend. :]
