Well which AP tests have you taken, or are taking this year? And which ones are you taking next year (if you aren't a senior)?

Also, does the number of AP classes you take matter? Will colleges prefer someone who has taken 15 or so rather than somebody who has only taken less than ten?

Sophomore year:
AP US Gov&Politics 5
AP Music Theory 4

This (junior) year:
APUSH
AP Calc AB
AP Biology
AP English Lang&Comp
AP Spanish Lang

Next year:
AP Comparitive Gov&Politics
AP Calc BC
AP Spanish Lit
AP World History
AP English Lit&Comp

Last year I took AP US History, AP English Language and Composition, and AP Spanish Language. (Though, due to some family issues at the time, I did not take any of these tests).

This year, as a senior, I’m taking AP English Literature, AP Spanish Literature, and AP Psychology. I’m taking the AP tests for both Spanish Literature as well as Psychology, but not English, however.

In response to your question, colleges will only want to see that you’ve challenged yourself adequately in the context of your high school. There are some very small/poorly funded high schools that don’t offer a great deal of AP’s, and adcoms will be able to figure this out from reading the school profile that is sent along with each student’s transcript. So the actual number of AP’s doesn’t matter; they just want to see that you haven’t slacked off and just bothered taking easy courses to boost your GPA.

Sophomore year: Spanish Language

Junior year (this year): English Language, Chinese Language, French Language, Spanish Literature, Calculus AB, US History, Macroeconomics

Senior year: English Literature, Calculus BC, German Language, maybe Italian Language if they decide to bring it back next year

Yes, I’m a huge language nut. Currently fluent in 4 languages and studying a fifth (German), and have plans to begin studying Italian next year. I don’t anticipate that it’ll be very hard, especially since I’m already fluent in both French and Spanish (two closely related languages)…

Translation: I love foreign languages too. I’m not very good at French because I had to drop the class (I didn’t have any room in my schedule). I am almost fluent in German and I am fluent in English, though.

I have also “messed around” with various languages, including Italian, Arabic, Turkish, Dutch, and Spanish. I never got very far with any of them, only learning basic phrases and such, but it was pretty fun.

Auf Englisch: I studied it informally for two years before high school (it wasn’t offered at my middle school). I have studied it for three years at high school but I tested out of German III, so I have four years’ worth of material under my belt. I am in German IV right now and will be taking AP German (and the AP test) next year.

And trust me, I’m sure you will be better than me soon if you aren’t already. I am using the term “almost fluent” somewhat liberally. ;D
