which book should i get to study for the PSAT??

Buy any ol' SAT prep book. PSAT is the SAT without an essay and algebra 2.

peterson's in-a-flash PSAT...it's on ebay right now for $0.10.

Does anybody have tips on how i can raise my score on PSAT for critical reading(right now its 62) and for writing(54). I'm aiming for a 72-74

Seriously, CR/W sections are just a matter of getting used to. Take many practice tests and youre bound to raise that 62/54.

yeah go through the writing section of the big blue book that explains all the different writing rules they test you on. then practice writing sections from all the practice tests you can get your hands on like crazy. i raised my 65 (from 10th grade) to a 76 last october on writing just by doing that.

and for cr, yeah the best thing to do is practice also. do as many sections as you can find. it helps to get a book that actually explains the answer behind each question. make sure you go over explanations for all answers you weren't sure of, even if you got them right. if the book doesn't have an explanation, then try to figure out the reasoning on your own or ask someone here on CC. i raised my psat CR from 64 to 76, it's definitely doable.

i like the peterson's book because it had useful explanations for every question. you might also try the barron's SAT subject test in literature book for CR. it works for any kind of critical reading test i'd say because it has extensive practice and great explanations. it helped not only helped me on the lit subject test but also the SAT and ACT CR sections.
