Hey guys, I want a 36 on my ACT. i'm taking it in September and was wondering which books are best to study from? I know that I should take practice tests but I want to study and completely know the ACT then start taking tests. Currently, I have the Barrons ACT but it seems that it goes overboard on some stuff. For example the English section is insane. Anyone know if this is a good book and that can recommend others. Help would be highly appreciated!!

bumppppppppppp

For me, the best help was the book with real ACT tests in it (I think it’s called the red book?). I understand that you want to get to know the test before starting to take practice tests, but I think that the only way to really know the test is to actually take a practice test. I think after you take a practice test, especially from the red book, you’ll have a better understanding of what areas you need help in and what you should be looking for in an ACT book. But if you really want to get a book first, I personally liked the Princeton Review.

thankssssss

any more thoughts??

BARRON’S ACT 36! Has helped me by far! (: Also the Princeton Review books.

Use barrons 36. It’s nice because if you understand the basic concepts of the act, but need a little boost, this book is short and helpful. So don’t waste your time reading a huge prep book. I didn’t study my first time and received a 32. After using this book, I bumped it up to a 34 easily.

Willy27, what were your individual scores on the ACT? It would really be great help for me. What college are you in/going to??

34 composite
36 M
35 R
33 S
33 E

I’m a rising senior sooooo dealing with applications shortly. I’m going to go into engineering most likely.

Thanks guys, I’ll be getting Barrons 36 and the PR.

Willy27, stellar scores!! (: WOW!! Wish I could take them away from you!

Anyone have any experience with the Big Barrons book (not the 36). I currently have it but I’m not sure if I should keep or not. I feel as if it goes over the top in preparing me.
