So far, I'm going to get the Red Book for practice tests, but is there any other books I should supplement it with?

Use 1296 Practice Questions for the ACT.
Use McGraw Hill’s 10 Practice Tests for the ACT.
And if you feel like those are too easy for you, go with Barrons

i just ordered Dissecting the ACT 2.0 and the Real ACT Test Prep

Those will be the 2 books I will use to prepare for the February exam.

Haha, I’m getting the official prep book also, but instead of Dissecting, I got Barron’s 36. :/

I don’t know why… I’ve heard good things about both though. Tell me how Dissecting the ACT is once you get it.

If I bomb my SATs I’ll switch over to the the ACTs- wil be getting Dissecting 2.0 and the real book= thanks guys

I used the first edition of Dissecting. It has explained answers to each problem in the old Preparing for the ACT booklet. I found it to be pretty useful. The tips and strategies they gave were pretty basic, but the material was good.

Does anyone know how Dissecting 2.0 is in comparison? I know it is a companion to the new booklet’s test, but are there any other differences?

I began by going through Barron’s ACT 36, then I worked through practice problems with Princeton’s 1296 Review Questions. In the last couple weeks, I worked intensively through the Red Book.

I managed to get a composite of 34 with a breakdown of 36 English, 36 Math, 31 Reading, 34 Science. So, yeah. Those books helped a lot for english, math, and science. I couldn’t seem to get much help on reading. But that’s just me. Hopefully this helps you a bit?

I used the Red Book, PR, PR 1296, Barron’s (I found the review material, particularly English, to be the most helpful. The practice tests were nothing like the real test), Barron’s 36, and the 3-4 official practice test released by the ACT (found them online).

I went from a 31 to 34 (35 superscored). Of all the books above, other than the Red Book, I found PR 1296 to be the best for me.

The red book is very good.
