which brand of laptop

i am an engineering student and i need a new laptop .i had intentions of buying dell xps because it was offering a great deal but after reading older posts found that many of you have had bad experiences with dell in past
what about now do you guys recommend it??

Most Reliable: Asus, Toshiba, Sony, Apple
Least Reliable: HP, Dell - their consumer models are not as Reliable as their business models.

Apple, rank tops in customer service and satisfaction, with their own stores for service and support.

I’m planning on getting [Toshiba - Portege Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 13.3" Display / 4GB Memory / 640GB Hard Drive - Blue - R835-P70](<a href=“http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Portege+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor+/+13.3"+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+640GB+Hard+Drive+-+Blue/2836126.p?skuId=2836126&productCategoryId=pcmcat138500050001&id=1218354840911]Toshiba”>http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Portege+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor+/+13.3"+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+640GB+Hard+Drive+-+Blue/2836126.p?skuId=2836126&productCategoryId=pcmcat138500050001&id=1218354840911)

Apple…

Don’t judge based on brand. Dell’s inspiron is said to be unreliable. However Dell’s business laptops are said to be pretty good. Same with HP. In fact, many white house officials use HP business laptops.

hey thanks all for reply
i guess i would go for the xps, one of the reasons being that most of the people i know have dell ,hp or sony viao and what i noted was the dell was the better one as it gives a great deal of specs with just 1000k ,worth it
secondly i live in india i wud be getting laptop from us as its cheaper there, and asus and toshiba dont run much over here so its difficult to find support if something goes wrong
and about apple i know its awesome but its a bit difficult to operate upon,i know once u get a hang of it it mat be easier but apple has its monopoly and all over software and windows is much better in this field plus xps is cheaper
your comments…
ps- i was going through older posts and noticed that gojack -you have replied many times but with many different recommendations like sometimes apple sometimes asus and rest toshiba, so whats with this why not stick to one. just curious

ONE MILLION DOLLARS! Preposterous! lol

eldiablo1,
Different companies do different things well
Someone looking for a $600 laptop, that’s not an Apple
Toshiba does not have much for high res screens, no SSD’s
Asus does not allow you to order custom from the factory (Apple and Toshiba do)
The really inexpensive Dells and HP’s have the most problems (no surprise, cheap is cheap)
Someone that has thousands of dollars in software for Windows - Mac’s a bad idea.
Asus and Apple do best on battery life

I have both, I paid 3,800 for my first computer, a Macintosh SE with a 8 MHz CPU and ONE MB of RAM, later upgraded it to 50 MHz, that was huge.

In the end it’s a computer, and next years will be better yet again.

thats absolutely true
@big cat i dint get it

@eldiablo1, You put 1000K ($1,000,000) in your post right before mine. That’s what that bad joke was aimed at haha.

oh now i get it, my bad i shud have written 1k . man if i had 1000k what all wud i have had done 3:)
