Which Business Program?

University of Florida
University of Miami
Pepperdine University
San Diego State
Indiana University
Arizona State

Which business program to you recommend for someone trying to get into the business side of the entertainment or sports industry?

Also would finance, accounting, management, or marketing be most useful for the entertainment or sports industry?

Thanks

I looked at Pepperdine and Miami. Miami's program has a low reputation among the student body. Pepperdine's program is nice and small, but is just above average. I believe that the IU is by far the best b-school in that list. I don't know much about UF, SDSU, or ASU.

I would say narrow your list to these three and then choose which one you like the best personally.

IU or i would actually replace sdsu with cal state long beach for entering the sports industry solely becuase of the higher number of professional and minor league teams that are spread through orange/la county. Both of those schools also have sports management (i believe) so major in that becuase only those major students are able to participate in certain opps.

Check on what i said since i am pretty sure but not positive

Response: Where did you get this information? I know a number of Miami business grads, although mostly in accounting. They are very successful. In fact, the senior partner who leads the largest local CPA firm in Miami attended Miami and majored in business/accounting. The new head of the AICPA nationally majored in business/accounting at Miami. They also have a strong tax program. Miami has a very decent business program and has produced a lot of successful graduates.

It's pretty simple. I asked students when I visited campus. Students view the business major as a slacker major or a fallback from pre-med. I'm not saying that Miami's program is terrible. As you pointed out, it has produced some very successful graduates. However, you cannot base your opinion on individual successes- every school has successful graduates. I was merely saying that I would rather go to a school where the business major was more well respected (like IU).
