Which Cal schools should I apply to?

<p>My parents are limiting the amount of schools I can apply to because of the obvious reason. (Cost). Right now they are saying that I should apply to only 4 or 5 schools. Great. Way to limit my choices. (But I understand it's because of the financial reasons.) </p>

<p>So now I really don't know which I should consider my safe schools or which I shouldn't. If I can only apply to 4 schools, then I would probably have to apply to all the safeties..</p>

<p>I'm applying to both the Cal Polys FOR SURE (even if they're reaches because those are my top choices.) So there's about 2/5 already. Three more choices or possibly only two.. </p>

<p>CSU/UC GPA: 3.6
ACT: 26
SAT: not submitting it
EC: 11-15 hours a week
Major: engineering (not sure about the specific kind yet, I keep changing back and forth) </p>

<p>The other schools I wanted to apply to are UCR, UCI, UCSD, SDSU, CSULB, CSUF. (And the Cal Polys as I've mentioned.)</p>

<p>I'm applying to at least one UC for sure because I already worked hard on finishing both of my personal statements.. </p>

<p>I would eliminate UCSD unless you can retake the ACT in time. The rest of them provide a good range.</p>

<p>I would suggest UCR and SDSU, you should also consider SJSU (if you lean towards Comp. Eng), UCM and UCSC.</p>
