The TI-89 Solve function has save my life in alot of classes. It sucks to completely understand a problem but miss it because you made one algebra error. Its nice to have a way to check your work quickly while doing homework and stuff. A TI-83 is fine too, I used one of those all last year.

The same TI-83 Plus that I've had since 10th grade

Hey guys, what do u think about Casio-[FX-9860GSlim].I have seen a lot of asian guys using them, wonder why.....
FX-9860GSlim - Graphing - Calculators & Dictionaries - Products - CASIO

the problem with Ti's is the algorithms they use to to get the answers. They always seem to lack compared to other brands and the sad fact is most students and teachers wouldn't know it if they saw it. Ive had numerous problems when my HP got one answer and the TI got another. In a Ti dominated school system it can be hard to defend another answer. Though Ti calculators do have alot of bugs in comparison to HP and Casio's, they are still more wildly used in America, mostly due to Ti giving free calcs to schools.

Ti has no presence in Asia, HP has a good following, and Casio is the biggest. In terms of the best calculators ive ever used, its been the HP-48 series(including the 50G) for graphing and the Casio 115 series for scientific. The TI Scientific calculators are such crap for how much money they are, there are casios at half the price with 100+ more functions.
